IMMIGRANT LEADERSHIP: The Missing Piece.

When we talk about immigration, we often focus on jobs, borders, or policy. But there is another story that deserves equal attention: leadership.

Across the UK, immigrants are leading businesses, supporting communities, driving innovation, delivering public services, and helping shape the country’s future. Yet their leadership is too often overlooked or under-represented in decision-making spaces.

This is one of the realities behind AFRIDAC’s A Day Without UK Immigrants campaign.

If immigrants disappeared for just one day, the impact would extend far beyond empty workplaces. We would lose experienced leaders, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, educators, community organisers, and changemakers whose contributions keep our society moving forward.

Leadership is not defined by where someone was born. It is defined by the difference they make.

At AFRIDAC, we believe immigrants should have equal opportunities to lead. That means breaking down barriers to progression, promoting fair recruitment, investing in leadership development, and ensuring migrant voices are represented where decisions are made.

A stronger UK depends on recognising the full value of immigrants—not only for the work they do, but for the leadership they bring every day.

Because when immigrants lead, communities thrive, organisations grow, and society becomes stronger.

It’s time to recognise the missing piece.
