AFRIDAC hosted and facilitated two parallel events
To mark Human Rights Day yesterday AFRIDAC hosted and facilitated two parallel events for the Black Women Safe Space #BWSS and African Men Safe Space #AMSS at the AFRIDAC Centre, London.
We talked about culturally appropriate mental health services for Black people in the UK as a human right. AFRIDAC had been advocating for services that is fit for purpose for different ethnicities in the UK to bridge the health inequity gap.
At the events we explored issues around mental health, self care, personal development, peer support, mental health advocacy and human rights. Apart from the food and drinks, we had a music therapy session facilitated by ACD Arts using drums, beats and dancing.
Special thanks to MIND in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest for funding the event, Hackney Congolese Women Support Group, AMBA Consult, LD Life Coaching and Consultancy.
